On Translation of International Tests: Statistics in Translation
Abstract
The major aim of this study is to provide translators with an overview of translation of international tests and questionnaires. First, a distinction is made between translation and adaptation, it is discussed that in translation, linguistic equivalence is of great importance and in adaptation, both the linguistic and cultural equivalences are of great concern. To ensure linguistic equivalence, qualitative and quantitative examinations are recommended, and to warrant cultural equivalence, quantitative examinations are proposed. In the end, the guidelines laid down by the International Test Commission (ITC) for translation of tests have been presented.Published
