Analysis of Educational Needs and Glossary Development
The Case of the International Students of the Imam Reza (PBUH) International University
Abstract
This descriptive and qualitative study examines the language challenges international students and staff face in higher education because of globalization and internationalization. The research was carried out at Imam Reza (PBUH) International University in Mashhad, Iran, and aimed to identify the most frequently used educational terms, find suitable equivalents for them, translate some educational rules, and design a glossary. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two groups of participants: 50 Iraqi B.A. and M.A. students and 9 staff members from the education department and the international affairs office. Based on the interviews, the researchers gathered educational vocabulary, selected appropriate translations, and organized the terms alphabetically. The resulting glossary is intended to support both students and staff by making educational information clearer and more accessible. Overall, this tool can help users complete academic tasks more quickly and easily, especially when facing educational problems.
