A Critique of "Research Methodologies in Translation Studies"
Abstract
Reviewing educational books is regarded as an important step towards improving the quality of teaching and learning; it also helps improvement of content quality, error correction, resource diversification and critical thinking, thus making it undeniably significant. Through content evaluation, one can ensure that educational materials are comprehensive, accurate and aligned with educational objectives leading to improvement in content quality. In addition, considering the ever-changing nature of knowledge and technology, educational resources should be regularly reviewed and updated to be in line with the latest information and principles. Using the framework proposed by McDonough, Shaw and Masuhara (2013), the present research has attempted to examine the formal, content and methodological aspects of the book "Research Methodologies in Translation Studies", which is regarded as one of the primary sources in research methodologies in Translation Studies. The findings indicated that overall, the book has done well in presenting research concepts in translation studies and as the authors claim in the objectives section, it has outlined a coherent model in classifying methodological concepts in translation research and has also achieved its intended goals in several other aspects.
